Doula by Destiny's End-of-Life Doulas are compassionate care companions providing an atmosphere of peace for aging adults living with life-limiting illnesses or nearing the end-of-life. When an additional layer of support is necessary, we integrate and deliver a holistic end-of-life care plan that ultimately honors your wishes.

Doula by Destiny dedicates our services to those who desire premier one-on-one companion care. Advance Care and End-of-Life Planning is too personal to the heart and often painful for family members experiencing the stress of medical crises or unexpected diagnoses. Instead, we facilitate softer conversations to meet the patient, family, and medical team's care goals. The team provides comfort, support, and dignity, typically when one's life expectancy is six months or less.

While End-of-Life Doulas are defined in many ways, we prefer to be consistent with the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization's definition

We focus on meeting your needs when experiencing fear, anxiety, confusion, separation, and loneliness. When health is beginning to decline, specific care and understanding are required. As resource coordinators, we provide support and resources to patients and caregivers. We take the time to sit and listen, even when words are not spoken.

We promote self-expression, which acknowledges our clients' concerns. Self-expression clears a space for honest, safe, and sensitive conversations. This space allows clients to remain autonomous in making choices, which lifts others' burden of decisions.

Our services range from Advance Care Planning to End-of-Life Planning to help navigate and explore ALL options available during each phase. Creating a peaceful environment to honor your loved ones with the dignity they deserve is at the heart of our mission. No one understands a person's emotions whose life is ending. All we can do is be there; sometimes, that's all that's needed.

End of Life Doula support is focused on you. Services are adapted to the unique needs and requirements for each family we serve.

It is an honor to serve clients with terminal or chronic illnesses as they live out their years with dignity, integrity, and grace.

When human beings are faced with death it is not uncommon for their lives to unravel.

Mattie's Final Gift

When my son completed his junior year in college, he challenged me to go back to school and I accepted. During the same year, my mother had chronic illnesses requiring frequent hospitalization. She died in May 2011, unable to attend his graduation.

Five years later, in May 2016, my son graduated with his Masters, and I graduated with my Bachelor. We miss the Matriarch of our family; she completed the 11th grade, which was the highest grade when she was in school.

We thought we were prepared for the experience, but when reality hit, we were not. We had advance care planning conversations, but nothing was in writing. We were emotionally and physically exhausted...

Testimonials

"Valoria Walker presented on Advanced Care Planning for my library audience. She was easy to communicate with, ready to go on time the night of the virtual event, and was generous with her time to answer audience questions. Valoria was open to feedback after the conclusion of the event, and readily shared her slides to any attendees that wanted them. I would recommend Valoria as a speaker to other groups interested in talking about death and dying"
